When: Today, 4 p.m.
Where: Doc Harris Stadium
How they got here: Cascade (9-1) beat Auburn-Riverside 31-28; Camas (10-0) beat Monroe 55-20.
Winner receives: Spot in quarterfinals against Union/Eastlake winner
Cascade outlook: With the Bruins traveling to Vancouver today, Cascade has an extra day of practice to prepare for the Papermakers. They’ll need it. Bracing for the No. 1 team in 4A, Cronin and the Bruins are looking for any little tendency that Camas has that Cascade can take advantage of. “We’re just trying to see what kind of weaknesses, if any, they have and what we can take advantage of,” said Cronin. “It really comes down to just playing hard. You’ve got to tackle well against these guys.”
Cascade is led by quarterback Josh Smith, a transfer from Chiefland, Fla. The signal-caller led Cascade with his legs and his arm, rushing for 727 yards and 14 touchdowns and throwing for 1,745 yards and 16 TDs.
Opponent breakdown: The Papermakers returned the bulk of the roster from last season’s team that reached the Class 4A semifinals. Every game that Camas has played this season has ended with a running clock, except the game the Papermakers played in Oregon, which doesn’t have the running clock rule. Camas won that game 48-7. Camas is led by QB Reilly Hennessey, an Eastern Washington commit who has passed for 2,399 yards and 27 TDs this season. Nate Beasley leads the running game with 940 yards and 20 TDs. Zach Eagle is the top receiver with 42 catches for 855 yards and 7 TDs. James Price has 29 catches for 719 yards and 8 TDs
Scoreczar pick: For the second straight week, Wesco runs into the state’s best 4A football team. Camas is beyond adjectives, and it’s looking like it may be the Papermakers’ year. It’s hard to say goodbye to this year’s Bruins squad as they have accomplished so much. So we’ll just have to bid them adieu and congratulate them on a highly successful season. Camas, 37-8.
Swaney pick: Camas, 44-20
Krueger pick: Camas, 56-35
Lommers pick: Camas, 42-21
