Police seek man who held up Edmonds credit union

EDMONDS — The Alaska Credit Union inside the Safeway store on Highway 99 in Edmonds was robbed Sunday by a man who indicated he had a gun, according to Edmonds police.

The man walked into the credit union branch in the store at 23632 Highway 99 at 1:22 p.m. today, according to police. He handed the teller a note, indicating he had a gun and to hand over all the money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the bank heading south on foot through the Safeway store parking lot, police Sgt. Mark Marsh said. The suspected robber is still at large.

The man is described by witnesses as in his early 20s, Hispanic, 5-feet-7 inches tall with a small build. He had brown hair, a scruffy beard and slight mustache. The man was wearing a checkered hoodie that had large squares, with a white T-shirt underneath, and gray-and-white tennis shoes, witnesses told police.
