Meet our new aerospace writer
Dan started last Monday, and the first thing we did was send him to the vote-no rally at the Everett Machinists hall that afternoon. Day one, page-one byline on Tuesday.
Then he covered the union's vote count in Seattle on Wednesday. Front page again Thursday morning.
A follow-up story about the tempest inside the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) landed Dan on page one again Friday.
That's nice, Dan, but what do you have for us tomorrow? No, you can't go to Dubai.
Actually, now Catchpole will catch his breath, if he can, and begin a more methodical entry into service.
Dan comes to us from the Yakima Herald-Republic, where he covered City Hall and was the database reporter. He did very worthy work there, including an award-winning investigation into the hidden costs of property tax exemptions in Washington.
Before that, Dan worked at weekly newspapers, was a freelance journalist in Tbilisi, Georgia, and contributed to various Seattle news outlets including The Associated Press.
He has a bachelor's degree from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. He's run three marathons, speaks Russian and is an Eagle Scout. He has no law, medical or engineering degrees, but we thought we'd give him a shot.
You can reach Dan at email@example.com or 425-339-3454. And from now on, this blog is mostly his.
