Backcountry film festival: See 10 independent films that celebrate the joys of the outdoors in winter. The Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival is Nov. 25 in Bellevue and Jan. 10 in Seattle. Tickets are $12 ($10 for Mountaineers members.)
For paddlers: The Deception Pass Dash, a 6-mile paddle through Deception Pass, is Dec. 8. You'll need a good amount of paddling experience to participate.
