EVERETT — A manhunt was underway Wednesday morning after a short pursuit ended in a crash in Lowell.
A police dog was being used to track the suspect, Washington State Patrol trooper Mark Francis said.
The drama began around 8:30 a.m. when a trooper spotted a convertible BMW without a rear license plate being driven erratically on I-5 just south of 41st Street.
The car left the freeway and was exceeding the 25 mph speed limit when it crashed into a Ford Escape at the intersection of S. Third Street and Lowell Road, Francis said.
The driver got out of the car and ran off, leaving behind his passenger, a Snohomish woman, 25.
The driver of the Escape — a Snohomish woman, 44 — was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
Police will investigate whether the BMW was stolen, Francis said.
They also have “a pretty good idea” who the suspect is, he said.
