Associated Press
TACOMA -- A 19-year-old Tacoma man has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and child rape in the beating death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.
Jake Musga was watching the child for his girlfriend last March. He was sentenced Thursday in Pierce County Superior Court.
He told investigators he had been drinking and "lost it" after the boy urinated on him as he changed the child's diaper.
Musga apologized in court to the child's relatives.
The News Tribune reports he must serve most of the 50 years before being eligible to ask the state's Indeterminate Sentence Review Board to release him from prison. That board could keep him locked up if its members decide he's not ready to rejoin society.
