Kudos to Safeway for Cascade DECA deal

I read (with fond memories of my Highline High School's DECA classes from 1964 and 1965, where I was the President of DECA), about Cascade High School's DECA being allowed to utilize their skills and training at Safeway. (Nov. 21, "Cascade DECA to take over market.")
For those who do not know: DECA is an association of high school students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service. The organization prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas.
This is a great and wonderful experience for the students involved and for retailers by DECA being in the limelight. Being involved with retail and learning how to interact with people of all kinds is tremendous training and furthering their personal skills at the same time, and is a part of your life-learning experience.
My two best teachers of my classes were -- Margaret Sablin and Gene Bigger from Highline High School 1964-1965 (yes -- way back then.) I fully support and applaud Safeway for this great opportunity on Dec. 7. Best wishes to the Cascade DECA classes and all their future endeavors and of course to Safeway!
Sam Cheyne
