EVERETT — A woman who died in July at the Snohomish County Jail apparently succumbed to the effects of chronic alcohol abuse.
Kathleen Ann Swann-Deutsch, 51, of Woodinville, died of natural causes, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office said Tuesday. Contributing factors were alcoholic ketoacidosis — an imbalance in the blood associated with problem drinking — and probable alcohol withdrawal, the medical examiner determined.
Swann-Deutsch tested at nearly four times the legal blood alcohol limit when she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on July 24. Two days later, she became the eighth inmate to die at the Snohomish County Jail since 2010.
A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office investigation into her death is wrapping up. Detectives have been awaiting autopsy results on the cause and manner of her death.
