Veach takes over Glacier Peak boys soccer team
The reason? You could call it divine intervention.
Veach, who was an assisting pastor at Stanwood Foursquare Church, recently got a new job as the lead pastor at Clearview Foursquare Church and relocated his family to Snohomish. Part of that is taking over the GP boys soccer team.
"It's very hard to be leaving Stanwood soccer after four seasons," said Veach, who led Stanwood to a Wesco 3A North title last season. "We built such great relationships within the community and program. The boys team was in rough shape when I got it and to have it turned around is great. The girls program we've been able to make some exciting runs in the playoffs and keep teams honest."
Veach is taking over a talented program that includes returning starters Branson Corwin, Peter Vizzoni and Spencer Pettit. Shannon Murray led to the Grizzlies to the 3A state quarterfinals a year ago.
"Going to GP has been great," Veach said. "The boys and coaching staff have reached out to welcome me to the team. I'm getting gifted a great program from Shannon Murray, who I have a lot of respect for. I'm very excited to get started."
One night in particular will be tough for Veach: April 21 when Glacier Peak travels to Stanwood.
"Monday April 21st is going to be an awkward night," Veach said.
