Welcome, shoppers to Black Ops Friday

They see you when you're shopping: Smartphone apps and other technology are offering deals and other incentives to shoppers but also are tracking customer choices and profiling users to gauge what kind of buyer a person is and what they're willing to pay.

Yes, the NSA has been peaking at your phone records, but Walmart knows you're a size 14 and wants you to know you're running low on toilet paper.

On Comet: Comet ISON, which some astronomers thought might put on a spectacular display, appears to have broken up. When the comet was expected to come from behind the sun on Thanksgiving Day, it was a no-show, likely pulled apart by gravity, speed and heat.

That, or it was still waiting in line with other balls of ice and dust at the Oort Cloud Mall to snag a Turkey Day deal on sunglasses and sunscreen.

Pass the muktuk: Thanksgiving in Alaska often includes local fare, including sheefish, salmonberry pie, moose-head soup and, of course, whale blubber.

Yeah, everybody craves a whale blubber sandwich the day after Thanksgiving, but by the third day of leftover muktuk, you're done.
