GRESHAM, Ore. -- A 29-year-old stabbing victim who tried to break up a fight between a husband and wife on a Gresham street said he didn't know the man was armed but intervened to protect the woman.
KGW-TV reported Kit Haberman, of Portland, checked out of Oregon Health & Science University Saturday after he was stabbed in the stomach Friday night. He says no vital organs were hit but he was still pretty sore.
Police have arrested 45-year-old Pedro Nunez-Valdivia of Gresham on assault, strangulation and unlawful use of a weapon charges.
Haberman was walking with a friend when he noticed a man and a woman fighting Friday night and intervened. The man stabbed him and fled, but police later arrested him.
