Wednesday links: Russell Wilson named NFC offensive player of the week

Russell Wilson, who threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns in Seattle’s Monday night win over New Orleans, has been named the NFC player of the week for Week 13.

Wilson, who earned the same honor last year after leading the Seahawks to an overtime win in Chicago, joins Warren Moon as the only Seahawks quarterback to be named player of the week twice in his first two seasons with Seattle.

For the second time in as many years, Wilson is getting better as the season goes along, which not only bodes well for Seattle’s chances in the postseason, but will only increase the talk that Wilson is a legitimate MVP candidate. Since the Seahawks’ loss in Indianapolis, Wilson has thrown 14 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions, and in Seattle’s last two games, Wilson has posted the top two passer ratings of his career — 151.4 against Minnesota and 139.6 Monday.

On 710 ESPN Seattle, John Clayton was asked about the Brandon Browner situation and said he thinks “one year is going to be off the table.” Browner, who had his appeal of what is reportedly a one-year suspension heard last week, is hoping for a fine with no games missed, and is willing to take legal action against the league if he is suspended, Clayton said.
