MALTBY — Snohomish County sheriff’s school-safety deputies are investigating after a Maltby-area eighth-grader reportedly brought a knife on the school bus and made threats to others on Monday.
The boy was emergency-expelled from Hidden River Middle School, Monroe School District spokeswoman Rosemary O’Neil said. Officials also confiscated a folding knife with a three-inch blade.
The boy allegedly wielded the knife toward others while quoting lines from the TV show “South Park,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Wednesday.
“The specific lines are unknown at this time,” she said.
No one was hurt in the incident. It’s not clear if the case will lead to criminal charges, Ireton said.
A letter to families from Principal Linda Boyle was posted to the school website on Tuesday evening.
“The knife was shown to others in what students described as a threatening manner during the bus ride to school,” Boyle wrote.
The school is in unincorporated Snohomish, in the Maltby area.
