Basin waterfowl

  • Photo by Mike Meseberg / MarDon Resort

Most years, ice is an issue for duck hunters at Potholes Reservoir by the end of November, MarDon Resort owner Mike Meseberg said.

But hunters this year have been lucky to have had no ice as of Nov. 28. That has probably changed with the current cold snap, but Meseberg said duck and goose hunting is still the best it's been in the northern Columbia Basin in years.

In the photo above, Shelby, Tanys and Katie Ross enjoyed a family hunt recently on the sand dunes at Potholes Reservoir.

For a current hunting or weather reports, call the resort at 509-346-2651.
