Seattle rapper gives away his new album
In an unfortunate turn of events Seattle rapper RA Scion announced on Facebook yesterday that things had gone south between him and New York producer Rodney Hazard regarding their new album The Sickle and The Sword. RA Scion received an order to stop selling the album due to copyright infringement.
So what do you do when you have poured your heart and soul into an album and then you are told you can't sell it anymore? Most people would probably lawyer up and fight the order. Not RA Scion. He went a different direction.
"...you win some, you lose some.. let my loss be your gain, friends - go to rascion.com and download the living (expletive) outta this album, for free! share it with everybody you know, for free! it really is a great album - i'm hella proud of it even though i'm thoroughly disappointed my co-d turned state's witness..." - RA Scion said on Facebook on Thursday.
The Sickle and The Sword is hands down one of my favorite albums to come out of the local scene this year and while this is terribly sad, it is also a great opportunity to support a fantastic local artist without spending a dime.
For giving away his new album for free and making the public statement he did on Facebook I have no choice but to give RA Scion the People's Champ award for 2013. Go over to www.rascion.com and download your copy of The Sickle and The Sword for free.
Well played brother.
