SPOKANE — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office says a woman found hanging earlier this week in the Spokane County Jail has died.
The Spokesman-Review reports that the woman’s family has identified her as Amanda Cook, 25. She had been awaiting trial on a domestic violence charge and a mental evaluation had been ordered by a court.
She died Friday afternoon.
Sheriff’s office detectives are investigating the death. A statement from the sheriff’s office says the woman was alone when she was found hanging Tuesday in a shower area at the jail.
