EVERETT — While southwest Washington bore the brunt of a winter storm, the only area of Snohomish County reportedly affected by the bad weather Tuesday was the Granite Falls School District.
Classes were delayed two hours and morning pre-school and kindergarten were canceled.
The district also had limited transportation available for Menzel Lake Road and the Mountain Loop Highway.
The forecast calls for a chance of snow in parts of Snohomish County today, but whatever falls is is not expected to hang around. Temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s by Wednesday.
Snow cancelled or delayed classes in many southwest Washington communities Tuesday, including much of Grays Harbor and Pacific counties.
In Snohomish County, many people and businesses are trying to repair damage done during the cold snap when temperatures didn’t get above freezing for five days.
The Mukilteo Police Department lobby remains closed again on Tuesday. An indoor sprinkler pipe burst on Sunday above the records department, city officials reported.
Several hundred gallons of water flowed through the ceiling, down walls and onto work spaces below. The result was significant damage to furniture, flooring, computers, electrical items, walls and forms.
There was minimal damage to the main case records, which were in another part of the same office and on elevated shelves. Water flowing through the lobby also damaged the floor.
