Prep basketball: Stanwood 52, Mount Vernon 43

STANWOOD -- After falling behind early, Stanwood picked up its defensive pressure and held off Mount Vernon as the Spartans got the nonconference win. Jillian Jacobs led Stanwood with 19 points and Samantha Powell added 10 for the Spartans, who improved to 2-1 overall this season with the win against the 4A Bulldogs. Mount Vernon's Alyssa Evans led all scorers with 20 points.
