The Showbox at the Market will embody the spirit of the season this Saturday night, as it hosts a fundraiser for Seattle Children’s Hospital.
The SMooCH Benefit — Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital — will feature a lineup of Northwests bands, including Allen Stone, the Helio Sequence, the Lonely Forest and Shelby Earl.
The second annual show starts at 7 p.m. and will include a silent auction.
Of course, it won’t be a silent night when the groups take the stage. The bands represent some of the local indie rock scene’s biggest names.

Also this weekend the Average White Band will wrap up its headlining residency at Jazz Alley with four shows this weekend. The concerts are at 9:30 Friday night, 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
The group was one of the few white groups that managed to hit it big playing funk in the 1970s. The band topped the charts in 1975 with the No. 1 single “Pick Up the Pieces,” off its No. 1 album, “AWB.”
The group has been showcasing its live prowess in recent years, releasing three concert albums in the past five years.

Chance the Rapper also is headed to Seattle, playing a sold-out show at the Showbox SoDo at 8 p.m. Sunday.
The Chicago rapper lit up the blogs earlier this year when he released his new free mix tape, “Acid Rap.” Put out just a month after he turned 20, the album found the rapper showcasing a fluid style and world-weary lyrics that seemed contrary to his young age.
The album has been landing on several best-of-2013 lists and scored Chance a spot on a new Justin Bieber track — which helps explain how the rapper is now playing sold-out shows across the country.

The Moondoggies are also playing Seattle this weekend, as they hold their annual Christmas show with the Maldives at Neumos at 8 p.m. Saturday.
The indie folk group, which got its start in Everett, released its third album, “Adios I’m a Ghost,” this September.
The group will share the stage with the Maldives, a Seattle group that also finds a balance between indie rock and country roots.

Finally, long-running art-rock band Pere Ubu will also hit Neumos for a show at 8 Friday night.
Pere Ubu may be best known for its influential debut album, “The Modern Dance,” which, while a commercial failure upon release in 1978, went on to influence a long list of post-punk acts.
