Last-minute shopping?

Crackers not included: As Washington State University prepares to take over administration of the University Center in Everett next year, it also plans to open a WSU Connections store in downtown that will sell Coug apparel as well as Cougar Gold cheese and wine made by WSU students.

Husky alumni who wish to purchase WSU's fine wine and cheese will be able to avoid being seen in the store by using the shop's back door and the password "2012 Apple Cup."

--

Like new: Meanwhile, the University of Washington has a surplus store down the road in Seattle that sells office chairs, coffee makers, dolls and CPR dummies.

New this year is a collection of barely used coaching equipment, including whistles, bullhorns and clipboards. You just have to scratch out the names Sarkisian, Willingham, Gilbertson and Neuheisel.

--

Wrapped up with a bow: Negotiations for a contract extension between Boeing and local Machinist officials have resulted in a "best and final" offer from Boeing but a refusal from local union leaders to allow a vote on the proposal by members. That decision has been met with criticism from state and local officials, international union leaders and even some union Boeing workers.

Looks like CEO Jim McNerny and Boeing are getting the union discord and infighting they begged Santa for this year.
