COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho — Waitress Rhonda Poole wondered how she was going to pay her electric bill next month.
Problem solved.
The waitress at the Coeur d’Alene IHOP received a $500 tip from an anonymous elderly couple Monday afternoon.
The Coeur d’Alene Press reports the couple came in for lunch with who appeared to be their daughter and granddaughter. The tab came to $46.43.
When IHOP manager Ryan Jewell saw the $500 tip, he checked with the couple to make sure that was what they intended.
After the couple confirmed, they asked Jewell not to inform Poole about her tip until after they cleared the parking lot.
The tip amounted to 1,076 percent of the tab.
Poole says she will pay her bills and perhaps buy some Christmas gifts with the money.
