Guti ready for duty

Sorely missed last year: The Seattle Mariners have signed outfielder Franklin Gutierrez to a $1 million, one-year contract. Gutierrez is a Golden Glove winner, but has missed most of the past three seasons because of injury.

As he signed the contract, Gutierrez tore his latissimus dorsi and immediately started a rehab assignment with the Class AA Jackson Generals signing souvenir baseballs.


Fame, what's your name? The Television Academy will add six new members to its Hall of Fame, including "Seinfeld" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno.

Leno, previously honored in 2000 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, left an impression of his chin in the concrete in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. It was later filled in after a family from Sioux Falls, S.D., injured themselves in a fall into the chasm.


SeaWorld is interested: Dolphins living in the area of BP's 2011 Gulf of Mexico oil spill are showing a high rate of sickness, a study says.

The dolphins have filed a class-action lawsuit seeking either payment of 150 billion herring or six BP execs they can train to jump through hoops and balance beach balls on their noses.
