The Boeing Co. has pared the list of possible production sites for its new 777X airplane this week and notified at least one of the 22 states -- North Carolina -- that it is out of the running.
So far, neither the state of Washington nor Everett have heard from Boeing as to whether they are still in contention.
"We assume we're still in the running, and continue to work in that direction," said Alex Pietsch, the point man on all things aerospace for Gov. Jay Inslee.
Likewise, Everett City Hall hasn't heard boo from Boeing.
Boeing spokesman Doug Alder said the company "has started notifying locations of their status in the 777X site selection process. We are not identifying any of those locations. We're appreciative of everyone who has taken part, and our teams continue to evaluate the sites that remain under consideration. A final decision is expected early next year."
"We aren't disclosing next steps at this time," Alder replied in an email.
