The Grizzlies held a slender 34-31 lead going into the final period, but Glacier Peak held the Mavericks to just four points in the final period to a earn the Wesco 3A South victory.
"Defensively, we forced a few more turnovers (in the fourth)," Grizzlies head coach Brian Hunter said. "Our focus was really to stay in front of individuals and just play solid D. I feel our kids really bought into that."
Trey Chambers led the Grizzlies' offense with 13 points and Luke Neill had 11. But Hunter also pointed out the contributions of Brady Southard and Nick Allan, who had eight points apiece, and Ty Kjellesvik who added six.
"The key for us is balance," Hunter said. "It's more difficult to play if five guys are a threat. . .and each one made a play at one point."
In contrast, Meadowdale received the bulk of it's scoring from just one player. Charlie White scored 17 points, almost half of the Mavericks' offense, and no other Meadowdale player had more than five points.
"White had a good game and he's a really tough matchup," Hunter said. "He did a good job getting inside and finished well."
