BOTHELL -- A Snohomish County sheriff's deputy was dragged a short distance by a suspect's car early Monday, but he eventually got her into handcuffs after using pepper spray and a Taser.
The deputy was not injured in the incident, sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The incident began at about 4:20 a.m. when a deputy stopped a Tacoma woman, 24, as she was driving near 9th Avenue SE and Filbert Drive. The deputy suspected she was involved in mail theft.
There was a struggle and the deputy was dragged a short distance by the suspect's car, Ireton said. He got into his patrol car and gave chase to the Canyon Park QFC. That's where he attempted to cause her car to spin out and stall using a PIT maneuver. She reportedly rammed the deputy's vehicle before the chase ended, Ireton said.
The woman continued to struggle with the deputy. He used pepper spray and Taser during the arrest, Ireton said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital for examination before being booked into the county jail in Everett for investigation of multiple offenses.
