Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)
Alvin B. Pettersen, president of the Snohomish County Museum Association, accepted a flag from Roosevelt School from students and Boy Scouts Tim Durkin and Frank Lambert. The flag, which had flown staff over the school in honor of fallen President Kennedy, would become part of the museum's permanent collection.

There were two ways to get a Christmas Tree.Drop down to the corner lot and pick one up -- about $2. Or take the family on a day-long jaunt to the mountains to cut one -- about $10. Some opted for the latter, traveling to North Mountain near Darrington.

25 years ago (1988)
Mike Poier, of Snohomish, part owner and manager of a towing firm and last year's official scorer for the Everett Giants baseball team, was named the team's director of media relations.

Snohomish's Chad Nelson, junior guard, sank two free throws with six seconds in the fourth quarter to secure a 69-66 non-conference boys basketball victory over Blanchet. Senior forward Joel DuChesne led the Panthers with 31 points. Jerry Dorsey added 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
