The best prep performances for the week Dec. 16-21

Lakewood | Boys basketball
The Cougars junior guard was one rebound away from a triple-double as he led Lakewood to an upset victory over Granite Falls. Alford finished with 18 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds and five steals in the victory.
Other nominees: Kamiak's Tyler Nielsen scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Knights beat Cascade and had 13 in a win over Mariner as Kamiak improved to 2-1 in league play; Sultan's Bubba Branham scored a game-high 28 points, including a key 3-pointer late in the game, as the Turks beat Cedarcrest. Branham also had seven points in a win over Marysville Pilchuck; Everett's Jace Chacon had 27 points in a win over Marysville Getchell and added 17 in a win over Oak Harbor as the Seagulls started league play 2-0.

Arlington | Girls basketball
The Eagles post scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win over Shorecrest and contributed 21 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Mountlake Terrace to help Arlington remain unbeaten.
Other nominees: Jackson's Sierra Anderson scored 25 points and 16 in wins over Auburn Mountainview and Cascade, respectively, as the Timberwolves improved to 3-1; Snohomish sophomore Madison Pollock scored 20 points as the Panthers beat Lake Stevens to improve to 2-0 in league; Lynnwood's Mikayla Pivec scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had seven steals and four assists to lead the Royals to a 60-15 win over Edmonds-Woodway.

Sultan | Wrestling
The Turks 220-pounder pinned his opponent in 18 seconds to lead Sultan to a win over Cedarcrest and also had four wins -- three by pin -- as he won the Mount Baker Tournament.
Other nominees: Mariner's Brandon Johnson pinned Lynnwood's Oscar Salazer in the championship bout at 106 pounds to lead the Marauders to a first-place finish at the Lynnwood Classic; Lynnwood's Manual Vasques placed fifth at 220 pounds at the prestigious Tri-State Tournament in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; Lake Stevens' Noah Cuzzetto took second at the Tri-State Tournament to lead the Vikings to a third-place finish; Stanwood's Foster Wade took first place in the 195-pound division at the Paul Reiman Classic to lead the Spartans to a first-place finish.
