Just imagine: A New Year’s Eve party for children!
Everett’s award-winning Imagine Children’s Museum plans a Nighttime Party from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 31 at the museum, at Wall Street and Hoyt Avenue.
The Northwest’s own Cowboy Buck and Elizabeth plan to perform throughout the evening. The duo’s high-energy show combines interactive musical comedy with dance, sing-along and ventriloquism.
Master Payne, a professional illusionist, plans to perform magic tricks, and Zero and Somebuddy plan to paint faces and make balloon art.
Kids can make their own “Lucky New Year” treats in the art studio, join a scavenger hunt throughout the museum and go magnetic “fishing” in the water exhibit.
Then at 9 p.m. — at the same moment it’s happening in Times Square in Manhattan — party-goers will step outside for a traditional New Year’s Eve countdown, featuring a huge, custom-made, lighted ball that will be dropped 40 feet at the stroke of midnight, Eastern Standard Time.
Tickets to the party are $10 for members or $15 for nonmembers, and are available at the museum visitor’s center or online at www.imaginecm.org/newyearsparty.
Earlier that New Year’s Eve day, activities from noon to 4 p.m. include performances by international dancers and musicians from Gasango Music and Dance.
Crafts from around the world will be offered, including origami instruction from a master, Dun Nguyen.
