Auld acquitance

But just how auld? Pop some corn and a bottle of something sparkling while you ring in the new year. Among this year's TV festivities is "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2014" on ABC.

Interesting fact about Seacrest, who has inherited the hosing duties since Clark's passing in 2012: Like Clark, Seacrest doesn't appear to age and is actually 72 years old.

More channel surfing: Among the best bets on TV this week is Friday's episode of "Undercover Boss," which checks in with head honchos who went undercover to mingle with employees.

Coming up later in the season, Boeing CEO James McNerny dons a wig, mustache and a "Mac" name tag but blows his cover when he lets slip that he doesn't understand all the complaints about the loss of pensions because "I'm getting $265,000 a month when I retire. Aren't you?"

--

Buried: The Associated Press polled its member editors to select the top ten news stories in the state. Boeing was the top story, but Seattle's stuck tunnel boring drill, Bertha, didn't make the list.

What does a foundering $3.1 billion public works project have to not do to get some attention?
