Target on its back: Target continues to have difficulties with electronic payments. After being hacked and losing customers’ credit and debit card data, now those with Target gift cards are finding that some of the cards aren’t activated.
Until Target can straighten this all out shoppers should stick to cash or the less-technologically involved practice of bartering for goods and services.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1660, Englishman Samuel Pepys wrote the first entry of his famous diary.
“Dear Diary,” Pepys wrote in his opening paragraphs. “Stayed up to watch ‘Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve.’ Boring. Does that guy ever age? Told Lord Lambert to bring a six pack to watch the Rose Bowl, but he’ll probably forget again and still expect me to feed him, the mooch.”
