SEATTLE — Seattle Storm CEO Karen Bryant will leave the team at the end of the 2014 WNBA season after more than a decade with the franchise.
The Storm announced Bryant’s decision Friday.
Bryant, a graduate of Woodway High School, has been associated with women’s basketball in Seattle for 18 seasons. Her connection with the WNBA started in 1999, when Bryant was hired by the Ackerley family to help secure a WNBA franchise for the city. She has helped lead the franchise to a pair of WNBA titles and remained with the team through three ownership changes.
Bryant said she felt nowit’s the right time to step away from the franchise. She will remain in her role through the 2014 season — the 15th season of the Storm — while the team seeks a permanent replacement.
