Storm's Bryant announces 2014 will be her final season

Seattle Storm president and CEO Karen Bryant, who grew up in Edmonds and attended Woodway High School, has announced that 2014 will be her final season with the team.

"I feel that now is the right time to step away from the Storm," Bryant said in a press release provided by the team. "I am so proud of all that we have accomplished in the past 14 seasons. Right now, I am focused and excited about the upcoming celebration of the Storm's 15th anniversary season."

Bryant has been with the WNBA team since Seattle was awarded a franchise in 1999. In 14 seasons she help guide the Storm to two championships and drafted franchise players Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird in successive seasons.

"Karen has been an integral part of the Seattle Storm since the beginning and we have had the great pleasure of learning from her over the past six years," Force 10 Hoops co-owner Lisa Brummel said. "We look forward to continuing our partnership as we start the 15th season of Storm basketball in Seattle and will support her in all that she wants to do as she moves on with her life pursuits."

Bryant will remain in her current role while Force 10 Hoops conducts a search for her replacement.
