Monday Seahawks links

The Seahawks are back to work after a bye weekend to begin preparation for their game against New Orleans, but before we dive into that, if you missed it this weekend, check out this story on how one local family was touched by kind gestures of a couple of Seahawks. It’s a nice reminder of the often ignored good things players do in our community.

One interesting piece of news that came out yesterday was that Marshawn Lynch was fined $50,000 for refusing to speak to the media all season (he did talk last Friday, but that was after the fine had been handed down).’s Terry Blount has more information on that story here.

From the News Tribune, a nice feature on Golden Tate, who continued his growth as a playmaker this season, and who will be a free agent when Seattle’s season comes to an end.

If you missed any of the Wild Card round of games, has a good recap here, and’s Pete King looks at all the games in his Monday Morning Quarterback column.

Doug Farrar of looks at New Orleans’ win over the Eagles that will bring the Saints to Seattle, and among other things, says the Saints secondary could be an issue if CB Keenan Lewis doesn’t make it back this week from the concussion he suffered Saturday.

Count columnist Norman Chad as one of the people who will be rooting against the Seahawks this weekend (seriously, did Pete Carroll steal Chad’s girlfriend in HS or something? He’s not a fan, to say the least).

The NFL says, contrary to a report out this morning, no decision has been made yet on the topic of playoff expansion. also notes that the Saints showed they can win away from the Super Dome, something that had been an issue for them.
