SULTAN — A police pursuit from Sultan to Monroe on Tuesday morning ended in the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect.
A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy first was summoned about 6 a.m. to an alarm at the county solid-waste facility along Cascade View Drive.
The deputy saw a suspected burglar climb into a car with tape over its license plate, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. The man drove off, and the deputy followed.
Police used spike strips to end the pursuit, and the man abandoned the car in the 19100 block of U.S. 2 and ran away.
He later was found in the bathroom at a business about two blocks away. The man was cold and wet because he had tried hiding in a retention pond “before being overcome with hypothermia,” Ireton said.
The man was arrested and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
