OLYMPIA — A Lacey woman pleaded not guilty Monday to manslaughter charges in the death of her 1-year-old grandson who overdosed on methadone.
Tami Roughton is accused of providing or allowing the boy access to the drug in November 2012 at her home. The autopsy found Joe-Joe White had a lethal dose of methadone in his blood, but it’s unknown how he ingested it.
The Olympian reported that Roughton was investigated by Child Protective Services in 2006 for allegedly giving a daughter methadone through a milk bottle. Roughton denied the accusation.
