I read in Tuesday’s Herald of another tragic accident on U.S. 2. I’m sure that the experts who have analyzed this horrible problem have good solutions. Most, no doubt, involve money we would have a lot of trouble finding. My thoughts are likely politically unpopular.
How about lowering the speed limit in parts of the highway? I feel unsafe driving 60 mph in places and often feel the need to find a good place to pull over and let cars pass.
It seems this wouldn’t cost a lot and would be enforceable. I think a 50 mph or 55 mph speed limit in stretches of U.S. 2 would likely save lives.
