WHAT: Sciadopitys verticillata ‘Joe Kozey’ is an evergreen native to Japan. It has a striking narrow upright habit that eventually takes on a pyramid shape. Mature trees will bear small rounded cones and its limbs feature whorls of flat needles.
It is an extraordinary addition to the garden and makes an excellent background for colorful shrubs.
SUN OR SHADE: This Japanese umbrella pine requires full sun or will tolerate part shade.
SIZE: Slow growing, it will grow 5 feet in 10 years and will mature at 25- to 40- feet high and 15- to 20-feet wide.
