Wing and a prayer

Wing and a prayer Some restrictions apply, void where prohibited: With the Boeing Co. now committed to building the 777X in the Puget Sound region, the competition has switched from Washington versus a bunch of right-to-work states to Everett versus the exurban Pierce County outpost of Frederickson. The perks offered to Boeing are a lot less lavish in this contest. For example, instead of massive tax breaks, Frederickson is promising Boeing free pop refills on every order over $7 at participating Carl’s Jr. restaurants. Beer goggles for money: A bar in Spokane now accepts payment in Bitcoin, the digital currency whose value, critics say, is volatile because of a lack of regulation. But that just makes it the perfect way to pay for drinks. Because the more you imbibe, the more valuable that Bitcoin in your pocket looks. When Grandma’s card table won’t do: A growing Everett company called Geek Chic manufactures high-end gaming tables. The Buzz is saving up for one, just in case Paul Allen decides to join our D&D group. — Mark Carlson, Herald staff
