Front Porch: Fundraiser aids Clothes for Kids

Help kids’ charity
Clothes For Kids has scheduled a Winter Rummage Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Beverly Elementary School, 5221 168th St. SmW in Lynnwood. Books, DVDs, toys, furniture, household items, tools, baby items, jewelry, adult clothing, children’s play clothes will be available.
The Key Clubs of Lynnwood and Jackson high schools volunteered to help plan and run the rummage sale.
Proceeds will benefit Clothes For Kids, a nonprofit that has served Snohomish County since 1984 providing wardrobes for low-income families.
“Rummage sales allow us to maximize donations that do not fit into our school wardrobe program,” said Program Manager Nancy Laird-Burris. “We have a lot of adult clothing, infant clothing and some play clothing that we cannot place in the program. In addition, we will be selling housewares and other items.”
Donations of larger items will be accepted at Beverly Elementary on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please only bring donations that are in good working condition.

Free flu shots: Flu shots are being offered this week in south Snohomish County at no cost, but the events target low-income children and adults and those without health insurance. Immunizations are provided by Seattle Visiting Nurse Association, with support from the nonproft Verdant Health Commission.
