Seattle U falls to Cal State-Bakersfield

SEATTLE — Issiah Grayson scored 15 points, including a pair of late free throws, to lead Cal State-Bakersfield over Seattle 61-57 on Thursday.
Brandon Barnes had 13, including two consecutive second half 3-pointers, and Stefon Johnson chipped in with 11 points and seven boards for Bakersfield (8-9, 1-2 Western Athletic Conference). The Roadrunners out-rebounded Seattle 38-27 and shot 38 percent as a team.
Seattle (9-8, 1-3) was led by Isiah Umipig with 21 points. The Redhawks were 8 of 25 beyond the arc.
Seattle scored the first seven points of the game then went cold, going 8:12 without a point. Bakersfield ran off 14 unanswered points en route to a 6-point lead at the break, 27-21.
Seattle cut it to two at 59-57 on Umipig’s 3-pointer with 1 second left in the game, but Grayson was fouled on the in-bounds play and made both free throws to ice the game.
