TACOMA — A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to life without parole for his aggravated murder conviction in the 2010 rape and murder of a developmentally disabled Washington teen.
Tyler Savage was sentenced Friday in Tacoma in the death of 16-year-old Kimberly Daily. Prosecutors say she functioned at the cognitive level of an 11-year-old.
The defense claimed the death was an accident from a sex game gone wrong.
Jurors were told that Savage and the girl knew each other through mutual friends in their neighborhood and agreed on Facebook to meet. They ended up in a vacant lot. When the girl tried to leave, prosecutors say Savage subdued her with a choke hold, raped her and strangled her.
He then tossed her body in blackberry bushes and went home to play video games.
