Published:
TACOMA ó A Tacoma house was gutted following a blaze that firefighters suspect may have been sparked by an illegal marijuana growing operation. Itís the second fire in three years at the home where pot has been cultivated.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that the fire broke out Friday afternoon. No one was injured and no one was at the home when fire crews arrived.
Once inside fire crews found about 100 plants in a detached garage and are trying to determine whether electrical modifications done to support the grow caused the fire.
In 2011, a fire broke out at the same home. In that episode, investigators found 365 plants and a woman who lived there said she didnít pay rent in exchange for taking care of the plants.
