Were you a Rosie the Riveter?
The American Rosie the Riveter Association, based in Alabama, wants you.
If you worked on the homefront during World War II, the nonprofit association would like to award you a certificate and collect remembrances of your experiences for its archives.
Thousands of women now in their late 80s and early 90s, including those who worked for Boeing in Washington state, supported the war effort as riveters, welders, electricians, industrial plant inspectors and machine operators. Their stories are of historical value and perhaps have never been told, said Mabel Myrick of the association.
If a Rosie in your life has died, the association would still like to hear her story. People are asked to call 888-557-6743 or email americanrosiethe riveter2@yahoo.com.
