MILL CREEK — A Mill Creek police dog is receiving a special vest to protect him from bullets and blades, thanks to community donations. Rasko is a 2 1/2 year old pure-bred German shepherd. He’s been a certified police dog since November. The Mill Creek Police Department is grateful to the donors, which included Vested Interest in K-9s Inc., a Massachusetts nonprofit, and the Husman Family Foundation, department spokesman Ian Durkee said. “This vest will help give Rasko the protection he needs while he is at work,” Durkee said. The vest is valued at more than $2,500 and was purchased at a discounted price of $950.
