N. Seattle hosts junior curling championships

The nationís top young curlers will gather in north Seattle this weekend for the United States Junior National curling championships at the Granite Curling Club (1440 N. 128th St.).
Ten teams for both men and women will compete at the annual event, which starts Saturday and continues through Feb. 1.
Teams will practice on Saturday, with the first games at 8 a.m. Sunday. The tournament will start with a round-robin format, and the top four menís and womenís teams advance to the playoff round.
The winning teams for both men and women will continue on to the World Junior Championships, Feb. 26-March 5 in Flims, Switzerland.
Single-day tickets for the junior nationals are $20, single-draw tickets are $10, and tickets for the menís and womenís finals at 10 a.m. Feb. 1 are $25. General admission is free for children under 16.
