Publisher N. Christian Anderson III said in a statement Tuesday the new format will include color on every page and measure about 15 inches tall — down from about 23 inches tall. The width will remain 11 inches.
Some sections will convert in February while the entire newspaper will be in the compact format by April 2.
The move comes months after The Oregonian shifted its focus to the digital delivery of news and reduced home delivery to four days a week.
Though more common in Europe, The Columbus Dispatch and The Cincinnati Enquirer have switched to a compact format.
