Wednesday links on Seahawks grit, Japanese candy, uniform choices and more

The Seahawks will be back on the practice field today to begin preparation for Super Bowl XLVIII. Before they do that, read about one of the key elements that got them there, the grit/chip that is the driving factor for so many players on Seattle's roster.

Also in today's Herald, Richard Sherman, AKA, the NFL's most polarizing figure this week, was in Mill Creek for an autograph session Tuesday night. As far as we know, he did not call any children mediocre.

From the News Tribune, a look at the Seahawks unorthodox approach of rotating guards/making lineup changes all the way to the NFC championship game. Also from the TNT, a look at things in Denver as the Broncos kick off their week.

NFL Japan was in town earlier this season, and had an interview with Marshawn Lynch. Apparently the key to getting the running back to open up and show a little more personality is to bring Japanese candy. Noted.

Sherman sat down with CNN's Rachel Nichols to discuss the reaction to his postgame interviews.

Speaking of Sherman, he's on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week.

By now you've probably heard a lot about Derrick Coleman's inspirational story and seen this commercial:

Well some very cool came out of this. We'll let this Seahawks fan and his daughter explain.

ESPN's Mike Sando and Matt Williamson attempt to rank all 106 players on the Seahawks and Broncos rosters. It's an insider piece, so you need a subscription to see it all, but as you'd expect, Peyton Manning is No. 1. What follows, however, ought to make Seahawks fans feel better, with eight Seahawks ranking in the top ten: Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Marshawn Lynch, Percy Harvin, Russell Wilson, Brandon Mebane, Michael Bennett and Kam Chancellor.

Sports Illustrated's Don Banks uses numbers to compare and contrast the two Super Bowl quarterbacks.

USA Today's Tom Pelissero on two key free agent signings who have helped Seattle get to the Super Bowl, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. looks at Richard Sherman's unmatched ability to cover the fade route (just ask Colin Kaepernick).

And finally, if you missed it last night, the Seahawks announced they'll be wearing white tops with blue pants in the Super Bowl. The Broncos got to choose because this is a "home" year for the AFC, so they'll wear orange.
