Weekend fun: Jousting, new pool, wedding show, more

Surely you joust: Step back to the Middle Ages at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds Saturday for the Ursulmas Medieval Faire. Medieval arts demonstrations, tournaments and activities for kids go from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information go here.

Splash! The Snohomish Aquatic Center will celebrate its grand opening with an event on Saturday. The dedication ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the aquatic center, 516 Maple Ave. in Snohomish. Relativity: Learn how to trace your family tree at a genealogy workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Snohomish Library. The genealogy workgroup members and library staffers offer tips on researching your family background.

Make it new: Families with kids of all ages can get creative with the help of the Creation Station at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Snohomish Library. Make a masterpiece out of repurposed and recycled materials. The library is at 311 Maple Ave., Snohomish. Call 360-568-2898 for more information.

Very scary: The Short10Cinema WebFest 2014 is Friday and Saturday at Historic Everett Theatre. All eight episodes of the sci-fi series will be shown, followed by a question-and-answer session with the cast and crew. Daaa-dum-de-dum: The Everett-Lynnwood Wedding Expo is Saturday and Sunday at Comcast Arena at Everett. So many decisions and one place to make them all. Robbie Burns: Celebrate the life of the popular Scottish poet on Saturday with the Kenmore &District Pipe Band. The event includes the traditional parade of the haggis, Highland dancing and bagpiping, door prizes and a raffle. It’s at 6 p.m. in Mountlake Terrace. Get more info here.

Seeing spots: Whidbey Children’s Theater presents “101 Dalmatians” performed by elementary school age students. The show is appropriate for all ages as kids and adults alike will delight in the adventures of the puppies as they escape the clutches of Cruella DeVil and her bumbling henchmen. “Beauty and the Beast”: See the junior musical production from Village Theatre’s KidStage on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The musical is based on the animated film and includes all the favorite songs sung by more than 40 school-aged children. Get more info here.
