Wet ride

It’s a hole in the water and on the land: A Southern California businessman has developed an amphibious car that can hit 85 mph on land and 45 mph on the water.

At $135,000, the WaterCar isn’t cheap, but perhaps husbands can sell their wives on one by pointing out they’d be consolidating their car and boat payments.

Here’s a well-qualified WaterCar purchaser: JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon’s pay was nearly doubled to $20 million in 2013, largely because he settled criminal probes against the bank stemming from the 2008 economic meltdown.

That’s about $250,000 for every top JPMorgan exec who’s not going to jail thanks to him.

Kicked upstairs: The Seattle Mariners have promoted Kevin Mather to team president and chief operating officer, replacing Chuck Armstrong, who is retiring at the end of the month.

Mather is a numbers guy who oversaw the M’s financial and ticket services, which of course means he’ll soon be meddling in baseball decisions just like his boss, Howard Lincoln.
