Scratching below the surface of Seattle

Get the dirt on the dirt under your feet from Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History director Kirk Johnson as he presents "The Real Seattle Underground: Rocks, Fossils and the Future of the Pacific Northwest" at 7 p.m. Friday.
The free lecture will be held at Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus. Parking and access to Meany Hall is at 15th Street and 41st Avenue, Seattle.
Johnson, a Seattle native, is a paleontologist who has led expeditions around the world that have resulted in the discovery of more than 1,400 fossil sites.
Registration is recommended by calling 206-543-5590 or online at the Burke Museum website, www.burkemuseum.org/events
